Modernizing campus building automation and energy performance

Anne Arundel Community College’s 872,000 GSF main campus includes 30 buildings dating back to 1967. As systems aged and operational demands evolved, the College required a structured approach to modernizing building automation and improving long-term energy performance.

Procon developed a comprehensive BAS master plan and guided the College’s transition from a proprietary controls platform to an open, competitive system utilizing standard protocols and web-based interfaces. This shift strengthened interoperability, improved vendor flexibility, and enhanced long-term maintainability.

In parallel, Procon provides campus-wide commissioning and retro-commissioning services, including serving as Owner’s Representative for commissioning on the 160,000 SF Health & Life Sciences project. Through structured testing, performance verification, and operator training, Procon supports sustained system reliability and energy optimization across the campus.
