Establishing operational standards across a multi-building campus
Anne Arundel Community College’s 872,000 GSF campus in Maryland includes facilities spanning multiple decades of construction, systems, and control platforms. As infrastructure aged and operational complexity increased, the College required a structured framework for managing building automation and energy performance at the portfolio level—not just project by project.
Procon developed a campus-wide BAS master plan to standardize controls strategy, guide modernization priorities, and transition the College from a proprietary platform to an open, interoperable system. This shift strengthened long-term maintainability, improved procurement flexibility, and reduced lifecycle risk.
Beyond system upgrades, Procon supports the College in aligning building performance with operational objectives—integrating commissioning, retro-commissioning, and energy benchmarking into a cohesive operational strategy.
The result is not simply upgraded controls, but a governed, data-informed approach to facility stewardship.
OUR ROLE
Campus-Wide BAS Governance
Procon established system standards, sequences, alarm structures, and integration requirements to create consistency across buildings and future capital projects, supporting long-term operational continuity.
Lifecycle Performance Oversight
Through commissioning and retro-commissioning services, Procon verifies ongoing HVAC and controls performance—identifying inefficiencies, reducing operational risk, and strengthening reliability across aging infrastructure.
Energy Strategy & Operator Enablement
Procon provides energy benchmarking, metering verification, and performance analysis while training campus operators to use BAS tools effectively—ensuring system improvements translate into sustained operational results.
